VISITING THE FOOD PANTRY
Fridays 3:00-4:30pm / Saturdays 9-10am

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

  • Enter the parking lot on the OPPOSITE side of Wells Hill Road from the Church. Please remain in your car and a volunteer will direct you. Since Covid, we have distributed food using a drive-through model. This better allows clients a choice of items curbside and allows those who are physically challenged to stay in their car.

  • Stop at registration. Give your name, family size, and town where you live at each visit. The volunteer will direct you to where you will receive your groceries and exit.

NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE? HERE’S HOW TO REGISTER:

If this is your first visit to the pantry, or if it’s been more than a year since your last visit, you will need to register. This simply takes a few extra minutes to tell us the following information:

  • Your name (or the name of the head of your family)

  • Your phone number in case we have to reach you

  • The town where you live

  • The number of people in your family

  • The first names and ages of your family members

FOOD:

Every family receives food based upon the number of individuals in their household. Our food selections change each week but usually include:

Cereal – hot or cold
Canned tuna
Spaghetti sauce
Eggs (when available)
Canned vegetables
Meat or chicken

Fresh milk
Peanut butter
Bananas when available
Pasta or rice
Bathroom tissue
Beans or lentils

Seasonal fruits and vegetables are provided along with a variety of other items that may include tortillas, detergent, baking products, jams, and soups. When available, there is also a choice of personal care items. Feminine hygiene products and adult and children’s diapers are available every other week. Note that diapers are only available to those with a registered of-age child.

We attempt to check donations and to monitor expiration and sell-by dates. The Corner Food Pantry cannot accept responsibility beyond these measures for the safety of donations. Clients should take care to store all foods safely after leaving the pantry.

QUESTIONS ABOUT EXPIRATION DATES?

Occasionally Connecticut Foodshare, the food bank of Connecticut, provides our pantry with items beyond the packaging date. Below is their guidance for evaluating food in your home or other places:
